They are everywhere - neighborhood streets, interstates, and highways, however, they are rarely seen or caught. There is an increase in hit-and-run drivers in the metro Atlanta area according to several metro area police reports, and many victims are left with no comfort after an accident occurs.Luckily for Le Hoa Thi Truong of College Park, who was victim of a hit-and-run incident on October 4, 2005, the unknown driver was found and arrested. Truong is like many people in Atlanta who commute to work via cars, and there are people like John (person responsible for Truong's accident) who attempt to flee a scene.Hit-and-run accidents in Atlanta are increasing. According to police reports from the metro Atlanta area (Chamblee, Duluth, College Park, and etc.) they do not appear to be decreasing. The majority of the accident occur on busy interstates, where it seems to be easier to get away without being noticed because of the busy traffic, however there a few incidents where they occurred on neighborhood roads.Though many may empathize with the victim, not many know for sure what the other driver is thinking. The victims who cannot identify the other hit-and-run driver are left with the damage cost and possible increased insurance rate. Also, the emotional damage that the accident may cause can possibly scar someone emotionally according to many police states describing emotionally disturbed victims.However, what does the other driver think? The other driver may experience fear and the punishment that they may receive. Geno Hall was responsible for a hit-and-run (fixed object) in Duluth, GA on October 5, 2005, and he fled. He fled because he feared the accident may have violated his parole. Though Hall is a rarity, the other drivers may flee because they do not want to be face with traffic violations charges or any other damages to their driving record.While many victims like James Michael Snyder, resident of Cherokee County, they are left with the damage cost to their vehicles. The only thing people like Snyder have to go by is the description they give officers of the drivers.Police are doing what they can to catch the other drivers, but it takes time. As for the fortunate people like Truong, they can rest knowing that the person(s) responsible are the ones left with the stress.
