Save Money and Gas, Fill Your Tires with Nitrogen

Author : Justin Ertelt
Like everybody else who drives, you have been feeling the squeeze on your pocket book from the rising gas prices. The days of cheap gas for our automobiles are probably over. And now you need to know how to make buying that tank of gas less painful. There are many things you can do to save on your gas bill, and one thing that may be overlooked is increasing your gas mileage through your tires. Yes, proper inflation will help slightly, gives a more comfortable and safer ride, but have you ever considered inflating your tires with nitrogen? The newest ingenuity in automobile tires is nitrogen inflation. Automotive racers (such as NASCAR) use nitrogen instead of air in their tires because of the many advantageous, the least of which is improved gas mileage. You can increase you gas mileage by 5 to 15% simply by filling your tires with Nitrogen, which can be done at a nominal cost of $3 to $5, and you won't have to worry nearly as much about properly inflated tires. Our air is made up of nitrogen, oxygen and other gases, but by filling your tires with nitrogen you eliminate the troubles oxygen has with our tires. Air corrodes aluminum and steel wheels, causing leaks through valve stems, wheel flanges and around the tire beads. Air also migrates through rubber. Air actually escapes through the rubber whether there is a leak or not. Plus, there is humidity in the air, which accelerates rust and corrosion. If you have ever wondered how one tire could "look low" this is why. You could be losing 2 psi a month with air, compared to taking 6 months with nitrogen. By maintaining better air pressures, you improve rolling resistance, have better tread wear and lower your fuel consumption.Nitrogen tires will also run cooler then tires inflated with air, which keeps tire pressures more constant (won't increase or decrease with rising or lowering temperature). You are better able to keep your tire pressures at the recommended pressure, which will also improve tire life and gas mileage. But how much can you really save? Let's say you add nitrogen to the tires on your full size, regular cab pick-up. You were getting approximately 15mpg average, and now you are getting a 16mpg average. Doesn't seem like much, but over time can add to substantial savings. It cost you $3 per tire, or $12 to fill your tires with nitrogen to get a 6 2/3% increase in your gas mileage, which equals a 6 2/3% savings on each gallon of gas you buy. If you are buying gas at $3 per gallon, you save nearly $.20 per gallon. You will save $3 with each 15 gallon fill or recoup your expenses after 4 fill-ups. And then you can begin counting the profits from you quick and easy investment in nitrogen filled tires. If you want to save money on gas, just start driving less. If you can't do that, improve your gas mileage, and one of the easiest ways you can do that is ride on nitrogen.Learn how to save more in our age of rising fuel prices at http://www.savingyourwaytosuccess.com/Justin P. The History of Automobiles

Author : Richard Gazzo
The long and winding road must have been an uphill climb in the days before automobiles. Leonardo da Vinci played with the concept of transport vehicles in the 15th century, but horse drawn carriages and old, reliable walking remained the most efficient means of transportation. Thankfully, in the late 1700's, inventors concluded, there has to be a better way. For well over two hundred years and counting, the art of transportation has been evolving. With a multitude of patents, inventors, mechanics, and researchers to thank, the modern day, fuel-injected, safety efficient automobile is light years away from the heavy, perilous steam engine powered vehicle of the early days. There isn't one clear cut inventor to single handedly credit with the invention of the automobile, although there is a wealth of opinions on why certain inventors should receive that credit. Contributions from Scotland"s Robert Anderson, France's Nicholas Cugnot, Germany's Karl Freidrich Benz, and Charles Duryea from the United States helped mold the first automobiles to provide genuine transportation.Once the concept of automotive transportation had been realized, the next effort went into ways to produce those vehicles. These were the days long before standardized parts, so mass tooling was an issue. Individual parts needed to be of consistent size and material to make the production process more efficient. Skilled labor was the next biggest challenge to enabling every home the opportunity to own an automobile. Henry Ford's vision to build "cars for the great multitude" helped ignite a flood of almost 500 automotive manufacturers into the U.S. market, while Mercedes and Oldsmobile helped fuel the fire worldwide.Mass producing one of the world's most historical advancements was no small task. The Mercedes folks needed seventeen hundred workers to produce one thousand cars per year. Henry Ford's introduction of the first assembly line in 1913 revolutionized the business of producing cars. Major advancements in machinery and technology made the process of building cars open to the multitude of new automotive manufacturers; however, in 1927, Ford was the winner with fifteen million units manufactured.Once the automobile had been designed, established, and mass produced, the focus shifted to how to make the most profit from it. Besides the evolution from steam to electricity to gas powered engines and the introduction of the first automatic transmission, advancements to the actual performance of the car weren't nearly as dramatic. In fact, cars could only be driven in the summer time because antifreeze had yet to be developed. By contrast, the vast landscape of the United States transformed the desire for automotive transportation into the need for automotive transportation.Automobiles made it possible for school systems to improve, health systems to improve, and lifestyle standards to improve, simply by connecting the city to the rural areas and the United States as a whole. The ability to transport building materials, as well as people, helped build communities and expand cultures.By the 1900?s the United States had long established a tradition of manufacturing success. For this reason it was logical that the production of cars in America would result in larger volume at lower prices than in Europe. Of the 485,000 automobiles produced in 1913, the United States produced 606,000 of them. As a result, the market for domestic versus import cars was clearly established. Imported vehicles obviously cost more to purchase, but also cost more to manufacture. In 1912, the Model T sold for approximately $600, which was less than the average wage annually in the United States. The introduction of the Mercedes Grosser undoubtedly defined the distinction between luxury automobiles and economy automobiles. This distinction during the economically-trying war eras further developed the class system, which to this day is still somewhat defined by the type of vehicle a person owns. The Mercedes focus shifted from merely providing transportation to providing transportation in the most luxurious way possible. Luxury or economy the United States was declared "auto dependent" in the 1980's because almost every household owned one, if not two vehicles. The evolution of the automobile industry is a truly fascinating one that has yet to reach its final chapter. Underneath the research programs focused on designing less environmentally harmful vehicles and the business programs focused on producing the least expensive vehicles possible, the simple luxury of transportation is almost lost. In the end, the opportunity to travel the long and winding road in comfort is truly a gift.About the author: Richard Gazzo offers info cheap rims, custom rims including chrome wheels, car rims, and alloy

German Vehicles Comparison: BMW Vs. Mercedes

Author : Matthew Keegan
German cars have long been recognized as some of the best engineered and most luxurious cars in the world. Two manufacturers, BMW and Mercedes, rule the roost with offerings from Audi, Porsche, and even Volkswagen getting some attention. Let's take a look at some current offerings from these Bavarian giants and see how they are impacting the auto industry.BMW – Give BMW credit for moving outside of the box by building a plant in South Carolina. Opened in 1994, the Spartanburg, SC plant has produced the Z3 – now Z4 – roadster as well as the X5 SAV. Seeking to become more of a world player, BMW has also purchased controlling interest in other automakers including Rolls-Royce and Rover during the 1990s. Later, BMW sold off the Rover and MG portions of Rover, but has kept the Mini brand.BMW vehicles are well represented in the US. Coupes, sedans, convertibles, roadsters, and SUVs make up the American fleet with new cars at various stages of development being prepared for release.Mercedes Benz – As part of the Daimler Chrysler fold, Mercedes Benz has been producing high quality automobiles for over a century. In 1998, seeking to expand its reach, Daimler Chrysler [DCX] bought out the Chrysler Corporation. Names such as Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, Jeep, and Mopar became part of the DCX fold, although Plymouth was discontinued a few years later. The Mercedes Benz name is synonymous with luxury vehicles and in the US the company is well represented by a host of sedans, coupes, convertibles, tall wagons, SUVs, roadsters, and other fine vehicles.Owners of BMWs and Mercedes Benz do have some things in common: vehicle maintenance. As high end vehicles, the automakers are noted for equipping their cars with only the finest OEM parts. Well represented manufacturers used by both companies include: Bosch, Hella, Mahle, Textar, Brembo, Bilstein, Febi, SKF, and others. Most are German born and bred and are recognized the world over for producing the highest quality parts for auto manufacturers.Replacement auto parts purchased through dealer parts departments are priced at a premium. Tips on How to Buy a Used Car

Author : Frederic Madore
With economics a major problem, used cars have become great alternatives to people who do not have much to spare in the financial area. Finding used cars is not really a problem as there are thousands of used cars outlets in the country. Buyers of used cars will, in fact, have a wide range of models and brands to choose from. But as these cars are already… well… used, it is important for buyers to understand the dynamics of buying a used car to ensure that they are getting value for their money. Here are some tips that any buyer can take heart whether they are buying used or brand new automobiles.Scout for the perfect dealThe principle of collect and collect, then select also applies in buying a used car. Remember that used car outlets need you more than you need them, so make the most of this special privilege and look not only for the better but for the best car and the best deal.Used car outlets, in fact, have special promos and deals that you can avail of. Some offer discounts, rebates and even installment payments while others opt for free services like changing of tire or cleaning.Wait up for a good deal. For though you are not paying full price for the car, you still deserve quality from the payment that you are going to make. After all, whether it is brand new or a car already used, it will still put a huge dent on your budget. So you better make the most out of every penny that you will be shelling out.Give yourself timeWhen buying or scouting for a used car, it is important that you give yourself ample time to look for one. Otherwise you will only end up buying a used car that you will not be using after a couple of months.Giving yourself no time to decide and choose will only make you settle for a used car that is not really what you are looking for. This may be well and good for a brand new car because at least with a new one, you will not have to think about the wear and tear. Buying a used car in a hurry is suicide in more ways than one, because you are also compromising your safety when you choose in haste.Be aware of the lemon law in your stateThe Lemon Law covers both used and brand new cars. While different states have different policies for used cars under the Lemon Law, basically, it gives you the same coverage. If you find that a used car is sold to you under false pretenses or did not function the way it was supposed to function in accordance to the guidelines, you have the right as a consumer to invoke the Lemon Law.Buy from a friendBuying a used car from friends who you know is way better than buying used cars sold in shops. For unless you have an eye for quality used car, you might end up buying a junk that you will not be able to use in the long run. If you know people who are selling their used cars at lower costs not because the cars are already worn but because they are buying new models, that's better. It's better to buy the used cars from private individuals because in a way you know how the car was used.Ask for referralsIt is also a good idea to ask the help of people who have already bought used cars, as they will be able to guide you with the entire procedure as well as refer you to the right store and person that can help you choose a quality used car. They can also refer you to a reputable used car store that they have already tried. This way, you can be assured of the quality of product and service.Don't be afraid to ask your friends, relatives or colleagues at work. You'll find that they are more than willing to help someone. After all, nothing boosts the ego than the thought that they can be experts in one subject.Frederic Madore is the founder of the Used Cars Information Center. Car Auctions

Author : Terje Ellingsen
There are actually two kind of car auctions; local auctions and online auto auctions. Let's take a look at each of them, how they work and how you can utilize them to buy or sell a car easily and convenient.Local vehicle auctionsIf you want to participate in a local auto auction, the first thing you have to do is to pre-register with the local vehicle auction you intend to join. This is easily done and when you register you will also be provided with all the information you'll need. The auction staff will explain the local auction rules and procedures as well as instructions about how to bid. When you register a vehicle for an auction it will be assigned a unique number and a specific location in the auction yard. Be careful to give the exact information about your auto; the condition your car is in, the mileage and title status. If you want to bid on a car, you should inspect it closely before the auction starts. You should also set your payment limits before the sale. Don't forget to signal your bid clearly to the auctioneer. If you have success with a bid, settle your transaction as quickly as possible with the block clerk. Now, let's say you have won a bid and the transaction semi-closed. Your next step is to check out the vehicle carefully. Take a test drive and make sure the auto conforms to the auction guarantee and representation. When you are ready to pay for your new auto, the car auction staff will assist you in paying and will normally also guarantee good title. If you can't pay your vehicle with cash, check or credit card, the auction staff can almost always give you a third party financing offer. It's recommended however, that you have the finances in order when you enter the car auction because it is normally cheaper to find your own cheap financing rather than take what you'll get from the auction people. The auction staff will produce an invoice copy for you that will enable you to drive or ship your new purchased vehicle to your location. Fortunately most car auction managers can help you make good deals regarding shipping arrangements.Online vehicle auctionsIf you think online motorcar auctions are significantly different from local auction, think again. As a matter of fact, online vehicle auctions work the same way as local ones. The only thing that distinguishes them from each other is that you cannot inspect the car before you buy it at an online auction, if its location is outside your area. Be aware however, that all the information you need about the vehicle is provided up front and you are also given access to detailed photos of the vehicles. If you purchase a car from an online auto auction, it will be shipped to you for a minor fee. As soon as the vehicle arrive at your location, you will be able to inspect the car before you finalize the deal. So you have nothing to risk actually by purchasing your car at an online auction.Buying cars at auctions is probably the best deal you can make. You are guaranteed to buy a vehicle for less than what the dealer or a private person would offer for it. If you buy it at a government or repo auction you will save even more for your new Lincoln, Pontiac or BMW.Terje Brooks Ellingsen is a writer and internet publisher. He runs the website cheap-used-cars.w-eland.com. Terje gives advice and helps people with automotive issues like cheap car auctions and online car financing.

Hit-And-Runs Unlimitted

Author : Soubanh Louangvilay
They are everywhere - neighborhood streets, interstates, and highways, however, they are rarely seen or caught. There is an increase in hit-and-run drivers in the metro Atlanta area according to several metro area police reports, and many victims are left with no comfort after an accident occurs.Luckily for Le Hoa Thi Truong of College Park, who was victim of a hit-and-run incident on October 4, 2005, the unknown driver was found and arrested. Truong is like many people in Atlanta who commute to work via cars, and there are people like John (person responsible for Truong's accident) who attempt to flee a scene.Hit-and-run accidents in Atlanta are increasing. According to police reports from the metro Atlanta area (Chamblee, Duluth, College Park, and etc.) they do not appear to be decreasing. The majority of the accident occur on busy interstates, where it seems to be easier to get away without being noticed because of the busy traffic, however there a few incidents where they occurred on neighborhood roads.Though many may empathize with the victim, not many know for sure what the other driver is thinking. The victims who cannot identify the other hit-and-run driver are left with the damage cost and possible increased insurance rate. Also, the emotional damage that the accident may cause can possibly scar someone emotionally according to many police states describing emotionally disturbed victims. However, what does the other driver think? The other driver may experience fear and the punishment that they may receive. Geno Hall was responsible for a hit-and-run (fixed object) in Duluth, GA on October 5, 2005, and he fled. He fled because he feared the accident may have violated his parole. Though Hall is a rarity, the other drivers may flee because they do not want to be face with traffic violations charges or any other damages to their driving record. While many victims like James Michael Snyder, resident of Cherokee County, they are left with the damage cost to their vehicles. The only thing people like Snyder have to go by is the description they give officers of the drivers.Police are doing what they can to catch the other drivers, but it takes time. As for the fortunate people like Truong, they can rest knowing that the person(s) responsible are the ones left with the stress.

5 Things You Should Know Before Buying a Car Cover

Author : John Mancini
If you own a collector car, the purchase of a quality car cover can be an important investment. Before making this purchase, there should be ample consideration given to the quality of the car cover itself. Follow these tips while searching for the perfect cover for your perfect car.1- While looking for a car cover for your vehicle, keep in mind that quality is a factor in this purchase. The better the quality, the better the cover will protect your investment. Look for a cover that is made specifically for your type of car. Many car cover manufacturers offer a variety of pre-made covers for most types of cars. The cover does not need to be custom made for your vehicle, just made for your specific kind of car.2- If purchase price is not an issue, then it be might be wise to consider a custom-made car cover. This will ensure that the cover doesn't blow away in a strong wind, will have elastic in all the right spots, can have extra layers of protection built in. The custom cover can even be made in a color to match your car or with some custom embroidery that is just for you.3- The material that the cover is made from is important also. It needs to be breathable, if the cover holds in moisture it will have dire consequences on your paint. The cover is not supposed to be waterproof, it should, however, dry out quickly after a rain, so that the rain spots are minimal on the paint finish.4- A cover that has several layers of padding is best for the protection of your vehicle. These added layers will protect your car against such tragedies as limbs falling from trees, the neighbors' cats, stray baseballs and the like.5- Before you place the perfect cover that you have found on your car, make sure it is clean. A dirty car will be scratched and scuffed no matter what quality cover you put on it. However, having a clean car to start with will help to ensure a well-protected car through the long months in storage.John Mancini writes about car covers online and offline. You can read more about truck seat covers and seat covers on his websites.

Don't Get Soaked By Flood Damaged Cars

Author : Matthew Henderson
Flood damaged cars will soon be flooding the used car market everywhere but without the tell-tale signs of water damage to give them away. Vehicles will be restored to new-like condition, water damage erased to the extent possible, sold several times to get a clear title that does not reveal flood damage, and then made available for sale to some unsuspecting consumer who is interested in a vehicle with a seemingly disguised water-damaged past. But there are things you can do to protect yourself against vehicles with hidden information.Consumer Beware Has Never More TrueConsumers do not need to be victims of a car's watery past. You can get a vehicle history report by simply putting the car's vehicle identification number (VIN) into the CARFAX web site, and then wait just a few seconds for CARFAX to search a nationwide database of information.
Research is gathered on the car's title, maintenance record, registration, and odometer. If this car is stolen, has had a troubled mechanical past, or had the odometer rolled back, it will become obvious when the data appears on your screen and information on the vehicle is matched to this report.A title check will reveal if a car has been salvaged, flooded, rebuilt, or is basically a "lemon." Consumers can and should protect themselves against being taken advantage of in the auto market.Matthew Henderson is editor at Auto-Fleet.com. Stop by for a huge selection of auto information. Muscle Cars, Like Dinosaurs, Once Ruled The Earth

Author : Brian Edwards
Detroit, or the world, has never produced an automobile that rivals the muscle cars of the 1960's and early 1970's. They were big, powerful and wonderfully unrefined. No one would call them sports car in the traditional sense. They were not nimble and curves were dangerous at most any speed. However, what they lacked in sophistication they made up for in brut force. In many ways the GTO's, Mustangs, Road Runners and their brethren represented the American character better than any vehicle past or present. Simplicity, dependability, strength and singularity of purpose were their calling cards. No one could confuse the purpose of these beasts. It was plain for all, and it was straight-line performance for one quarter of a mile. Nothing else mattered.Contrast that with today and the lore of days past becomes even more apparent. A new Corvette will defeat even the most powerful Corvette of old in every category. The current generation of performance cars thumps the muscle car in safety, comfort, reliability and, yes, performance. But, that does not tell the whole story and it doesn't explain the current interest in and corresponding sky rocketing values of classic muscle cars. The clarity of purpose these super cars exuberated just feels good. It awakens the cave man in each of us! These automobiles have a particular hold on the generation that came of age in the late 1960's. Many feel that this is their last chance to re-live their youth and they are willing to pay for the opportunity. For example, a 1970 Dodge Hemi 'Cuda sold for $4,035 new and well-preserved models are routinely offered and $150,000 today. That represents and 10.6% annual return. Not a bad return considering the stock market has returned 7.4% annual over the same period. Similarly, and 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS convertible with a 454ci engine sold for $4,200 new and to will cost around $115,000 or a 9.7% annual return. Finally, a 1969 Boss Mustang with a 429ci Engine originally cost $4,150 and today trades for $115,000. That is a 9.6% return over the same period.Granted these are examples of the rarest and most sought after muscle cars. However, even "common" muscle cars have experienced notable gains. The 1970 Plymouth Road Runner with a 440ci engine sold for $3,500 and today trades at $55,000. A 1967 Pontiac GTO cost $3,750 and now goes for $45,000. That's a 6.8% compounded rate of return. The investor in muscle cars must consider a few very important points. First, all investments have risks. This market, like real estate or technology stocks, could fall as fast as it has risen. Second, unlike stocks and money market investments, muscle cars do not pay dividends or interest. Indeed, they cost money to maintain, store and restore. Third, rarity matters. As the numbers above show, the rarest muscle cars have preformed the best. Finally, get a second opinion when considering a classic muscle car. Mechanics are a good choice and a mechanic that has actually restored a few cars is the best choice. Nothing beats experience.Obviously, one of the most important variables to consider when considering muscle cars as an investment is the condition. Only the most original and accurately restored examples fetch these prices. More common versions or cars in lower conditions will sell for significantly less. For the collector that actually wants to drive their cars regularly these more common versions may actually be a better value. The choice of a rare collector muscle car or a common daily driver depends on the budget and the purpose of the collector. Both offer unique benefits to the owner and much enjoyment. The chance to re-live our youth is always a pleasant experience.Muscle Car Facts is dedicated to providing information on all the great muscle cars of the past.

7 Things to Know when Renting a Car

Author : John Mancini
In today's society, there are a number of reasons why people rent a car. Some of the top reasons are vacations, a car they own is in the shop and renting a nicer car for a special occasion. Whatever the reason that you are considering renting a car; there are some things that you should know first.1- It is wise to shop around when looking for to rent a car. Always find at least three rental car companies to compare, although more will be better. Be sure to ask all the companies the same questions to get the most accurate answers. Most rental car companies will have websites online to find basic information, but it is best to call as local branches may have deals that are not advertised online.2- When you call, be sure to ask about price, vehicle availability, as well as any specials that the branch has to offer. It is worth noting here, that many of these companies will have special arrangements with hotels, airlines or even warehouse stores.3- You will want to ask about any special instructions that are required of you while renting the car, for example, filling up the gas tank or pick up and drop off times. Not adhering to these policies can result in fees.4- Many companies that will rent a car to you will also be willing to either deliver the car to you or pick you up and take you to your rental. This service may require a fee, but can be worth asking about if you are flying to your destination.5- The rental company may offer you insurance to purchase, however, your personal auto insurance may be all you need in the event of an accident with a rental car. Call your auto insurance agent and ask before paying extra at the rental counter.6- There are a number of choices that are open to you when renting a car. Each class of car will vary in price and gas mileage; consider this when making your decision. While many companies may be willing to upgrade you, this is not always the case. It is wise to choose the car you want and hope for an upgrade than to reserve less of a car and be disappointed when an upgrade is not offered.7- Have a credit or debit card handy to reserve the rental car with, most companies will only guarantee a car with this assurance.John Mancini writes about rental cars online and offline. You Wont Have Any "Fun, Fun, Fun" in Your Vehicle Until

Author : Dee Scrip
…your carbon kids are taken away. In fact, your will be spending your "mun, mun, mun" until those skuzzy little rebels are removed.Remember the good old days when you drove your brand new vehicle off the lot -- the engine purred like a kitten, responded to your slightest touch, you got the miles per gallon claimed on the sticker, and driving was something you looked forward to? You may have even enjoyed being nominated the "designated" driver.A few months later, the honeymoon's over, your engine is now whiney, miles per gallon decreases, your vehicle ignores your gentle touch, it starts coughing up fur ball type toxic exhaust emissions, and you start seeking gas stations for the cheapest prices attempting to rectify the excess fuel now required.Yep, it happens to the best of us, even after we have pampered our vehicle in every way imaginable. Now, you may be thinking, "yeah, well, so – it is inevitable, just a law of nature when it comes to aging vehicles". But au contraire mon frere. Quite the opposite! The culprit responsible for taking the purr out of your engine, the sluggish response, the unhealthy foul emissions, and the decreased miles per gallon is carbon deposits loitering around in your engine!Carbon deposits, like uninvited guests at any fuel party, create carbon babies during combustion in your engine. Here's how that happens – all gasoline, diesel, and bio-diesel fuel contain water and sulfur. When water and sulfur meet, they produce sulfuric acid. Sulfuric acid not burned off during combustion leaves behind carbon kids, aka carbon deposits. These little carbon kids cling to life on spark plugs, valves, among many other unsuspecting components in your engine. And not only that, they love those group hugs. So, the end result is an unhealthy engine screaming for help while you are screaming back, "Why can't you be like you were when we first met?"Counseling is in order and the Fuel Doctor says, "simply post a 'No Loitering' sign for those carbon groupies in your engine".It's easy enough to do – just pop a Power Pill in your tank at each fill up. The Power Pill creates a "police state" where it prevents newborn carbon deposits from forming and removes the fattened toddlers hanging around. It defends any size engine powered by gas, bio-diesel, or diesel fuel. The size of a penny, known as the UBiee PowerPill, conditions your engine, leaving it purring with a renewed response to your gentle touch, increases your miles per gallon, substantially reduces those hostile emissions, and saves you money – all at the same time. Now, you will be able to have fun, fun, fun, and no one can take that away!Dee Scrip is a well known and respected published expert author of numerous articles on Fuel Economy, PowerPill Fe-3, Home Business, Business Opportunities, Fundraising, VoIP, VoIP Security, and other related VoIP issues.http://www.helpwithfuelprices.comhttp://www.free-pc-phone.comFunFunFun

Car Accidents in the UK - How to Claim

Author : Martin Nolan
HOW TO PURSUE CAR ACCIDENT COMPENSATION CLAIMS IN THE UKIt is thought that there are around 2 million in road accidents in the UK every year. Fortunately most accidents are relatively minor and do not involve bodily injury. Irrespective of whether there is a personal injury or not it is fair to say that accidents of this nature are extremely inconvenient and can very often cause considerable expense to those involved. There are certain legal requirements that must be met by any individuals involved in a road accident. The law demands that you should always stop at the scene and exchange personal details and insurance information with the other party. The police very often will not attend minor road accidents where there has been no bodily injury and where the flow of traffic has not been obstructed. However you may wish to contact the police in any event to at least give them an opportunity to visit the scene should they deem it necessary. If your vehicle has been damaged in a car accident, then provided you have comprehensive insurance cover, the very first thing you should do is contact your insurance company. They will immediately arrange for the vehicle to be taken to one of their approved repairers where the damage will be assessed. If the damage can be repaired, rectification work usually starts within a week or so. But if the vehicle is considered to be a write-off, the insurance company will need to conduct a more thorough inspection of the vehicle and will then seek to make an offer of settlement to you that reflects the market value of the vehicle. They may deduct an excess if your policy is subject to such a charge. If your vehicle is not covered comprehensively, then you will have no choice but to claim from the other party, assuming of course that you were not responsible for the accident. Most insurers now take a proactive stance when dealing with "third-party" claims and there is every chance that in straightforward cases, your claim will be handled almost as quickly as it would be with your own comprehensive insurer.Notwithstanding this, there are many problems that can intervene to disrupt this process. Not least arguments on liability where another party is disputing how the accident occurred. There are of course many situations where liability ought to be shared, but even in a case where negligence is assessed at 50/50, you can and should pursue a claim for 50% of your losses. When making a claim against another party's insurers, you may be entitled to recover the following items:• Repair costs
• write-off / replacement vehicle value
• car hire costs
• loss of use
• inconvenience
• loss of earnings
• travel expenses
• additional petrol expenses
• personal injuryThey may of course be other items, but the above list probably accounts for the majority of claims in this sector. If you have been injured in a Road accident, you may be entitled to claim for pain and suffering compensation. It is always advisable in these situations to instruct a personal injury solicitor to help you with such a claim. In England and Wales most solicitors will pursue claims for injury on a "no win-no fee" basis which ensures that win or lose, an injured party will not be responsible for any legal costs. You may even have the benefit of legal expense insurance which allows you to pursue a claim without the burden of incurring any legal fees.Perhaps the most common injury suffered in road accidents is that of whiplash. The average whiplash compensation payment is in the region of £2000. You may also be entitled to treatment or physiotherapy costs which can of course be of enormous benefit in assisting your recovery from an injury.Martin Nolan is a legal marketer for the UK a personal injury sector. Favorite Car Song and Why

Author : Sue DeFiore
I have a number of favorites, however, my all time favorite is Hot Rod Lincoln by Commander Cody.Since living in an extremely cold climate means taking your Corvette off the road in the winter months, a winter car is a must.So in September we started looking for a car for winter and found a beauty, a 2 door dark green 1976 Lincoln Town Car, 5035 lbs with a nice big V-8 (460) that rode like a dream, and talk about hauling a**. I can still remember the night we picked it up. With only having the Corvette, Chuck did most of the driving. Since I hadn't driven in a while, I told him to take it easy since I hadn't driven in the dark for quite sometime. Well, anyone who has even driven this car knows that 30 feels like you are crawling and before you know it you are up to 50 or 60. So, yep, you guessed it, there we were on the back roads and Chuck is punching the Corvette to keep up with me. I was in heaven, with all that horsepower and car around me again. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Corvette, but since my first car was a 2 door 1962 Chevy Belair being in a big car again put me in seventh heaven, and this one was even bigger and faster than my first one.Of course when we got home Chuck had some choice words for me, however, it all turned out all right. And what a winter car it was, we never got stuck and believe you me Rochester gets a lot of snow. Watched many a car spin it's wheels in the parking lot, while that big Lincoln plowed through it like it was nothing. Never missed a day of work in it either and it started up even at minus 40 and 50 wind chill, and the heat, ah the wonderful warm air it put out, just couldn't beat it. It did yeoman service for us.We had the Lincoln for our three remaining winters in Rochester, before moving out west. We sold it to a college student going to school in NJ. It was still in tip top shape, just some minor rust, which is just part and parcel of living on the East coast with cold, snow and salt.Would love to find another, as we would snap it up in a minute. While not a hot rod Lincoln, it still brings back very very fond memories. My other favorites, Little GTO, 409 (of course), and the ultimate car song for those of us that live recklessly, Deadman's Curve. So tell us your favorite and why. If we get enough replies, we'll dedicate a section of the web site to car song favorites.DeFiore Enterprises, Copyright 2005Matching Numbers USA, "The New Way To Find Old Parts" is a nationwide automated searching, location and parts matching service. Beware of Hurricane Damaged Vehicles!

Author : Matthew Keegan
Nearly a half million cars were destroyed by two of this past season's biggest hurricanes, Katrina and Rita. Some of these cars may not have received much apparent damage but they were totaled nevertheless because of water, mud, and debris which flooded engine bays and the interior. Damaged cars are supposed to make their way to the junkyard for scrap, unfortunately some unscrupulous parties are gaining a hold of the vehicle titles and turning around and selling damaged cars to the public. Should you be concerned? Absolutely! Read on to learn more about this problem and what you can do to avoid being stuck with a vehicle that is certain to be a lemon.Let me just say this: it is not illegal for weekend mechanics to buy a salvaged vehicle, repair it, and sell it to you. What they must disclose to you is this: you are buying a salvaged vehicle. This is where most of the problems begin: the dishonest purveyors are not sharing this information.Only 22 states require that the titles of flood damaged vehicles [which were totaled by insurers] be stamped with that information. So, if you live in any one of the 28 other states, be extremely cautious about buying any used car [check your local laws to see which group you belong to].One organization is doing its part to help fight the problem. The National Insurance Crime Bureau [NICB] this past summer and fall sent teams to flood damaged areas in affected states to work with local police authorities. What the teams did was try to catalog all of the flood damaged vehicles and enter that information in a database, which is accessible online. Because of their diligence, nearly 200,000 car identification numbers are now available for car buyers to search at www.nicb.orgCar shoppers should always invest in obtaining a car history report from an independent company, such as Car Fax, as a back up source to verify information about a vehicle. Although the information supplied by these types of companies isn't always 100% accurate, it can usually reveal whether a car has been salvaged, rebuilt, is a lemon, or has been flood damaged. Some guarantee their information so check the individual contract/agreement before you use their services to see what recourse you would have in the event a lemon sneaks by them and you purchase one.So, how can we know for sure that there will be problems? Well, if Hurricane Floyd is a measuring stick then the potential for fraud is huge. In 1999, nearly 80,000 cars were damaged by Floyd and taken off of the roads due to storm damage. About half of that number were repaired and resold, many to unsuspecting consumers. You don't have to be a victim, so get informed. If a car is priced well below book value that can be a big clue that a problem exists, however don't rely on price, instead do some research first before buying your next used car.Matt Keegan is a contributing writer for the

A Quick Guide to Rental Cars

Author : John Mancini
Rental cars can be a necessity; their use can save lots of time and aggravation. However, the actual act of renting them can seem to be a test in patience. There are forms to be filled out, questions to be answered and signatures to be signed. Before you sign on the dotted line, be sure you know exactly what you are getting and giving for your rental car.If you have personal auto insurance, call your agent to see if you are insured with a rental car as well. This will allow you to save money by turning down the insurance offered by the rental company at the time of vehicle pick up.Be sure to read the contract and ask questions about anything that you do not understand. It's better to take sometime at the counter or on the phone to pin down the details, than to think you got it and have to deal with the company in the event of an accident. Ask questions! You will want to ask about procedures that may be required by the rental company. Many companies require that the car be fueled up before its return, if this is not done, they will charge you extra for it. It may also be in your best interest to ask what the fee would be if the car is needed for longer than expected as well as what the rate is for late drop off.The first step involved in obtaining a rental car is to do research on the companies in your local area. There are a number of nation wide companies and more than likely local companies to choose from when conducting your research. Try to narrow them down to three or four companies that are closest to either your pick up location or your destination.John Mancini has been writing about rental cars online and offline for a long time. Torque Converter Lockup

Author : Jerry Lemke
Although the torque converter clutch is not part of the engine, it can make the car feel like the engine has a problem. The torque converter clutch is also known as a lock up converter. The lockup clutch has many purposes and is part of the transmission. A regular converter in an automatic transmission is made to slip at idle so that the car doesn't move. As the accelerator is pressed the RPM's raise and the torque converter will start to lockup or engage. When the converter engages the car will move.Even though the torque converter is engaged it never completely engages the way a manual transmission car clutch will. It will always slip a little, which is not very efficient. This is why a manual transmission car gets better gas mileage and has more power than an automatic transmission car. To increase power and mainly fuel mileage, a TCC is added to an automatic transmission. The torque converter clutch is an electronic clutch that will engage the engine and drivetrain 100 percent. The TCC is made to engage usually only in the top gear when the car is cruising, not accelerating. The lock up converter will disengage when the accelerator is pressed hard enough. Over time the clutch will wear out especially if the vehicle ever towed anything and was operated in overdrive (top gear). This will wear the clutch out prematurely. If you have a tachometer you will see the RPM's drop a few hundred when it engages. If the TCC is bad one of three things will usually happen. First, the vehicle will tend to rev up and down as it engages and disengages, not being able to keep the converter clutch locked up. Second, the converter clutch will engage randomly in gears that it shouldn't even engage in usually. Third the clutch doesn't want to disengage. As you slow down the vehicle won't downshift and if you try to accelerate the RPM's will be so low that the vehicle will have difficulty moving quickly. In extreme cases the lockup converter will try to keep the vehicle moving as you try to stop at a stop light, or will stall out and die. Many people think that this problem is coming from their engine because it causes the car to stall. The check engine light will not always show an error for the TCC. Most lockup converters are controlled by a wire or wires that plug into the transmission. It is possible on some models to simply disconnect this plug. This is not a problem and will only cause you to lose a little gas mileage. The RPM's will run slightly higher than before but will not harm anything or be an issue.Jerry Lemke is the owner of a website called http://www.freeengineinfo.com. A site dedicated to engine information and repair related topics.

Driving Slow For No Reason

Author : Eric Silver
Subaru Wagons. Any Volvo.
Drivers of these rolling roadblocks are the self-appointed guardians of the speed limit, often bringing it down a few notches for good measure. Safety and civic responsibility are obvious personality traits of these motorists, but they should endeavor to keep their attitudes out of the passing lane. I would wager that even cops sometimes want to run them off the road. Speaking of cops:Police Cars: Situation One.
When a police car rolls up behind you, please get out of his way. He is very likely on a call, or on his way to see something more interesting than your back-end. If you are one of those people who stay in front of police cars, slowing to the speed limit because you are paralyzed with fear, or want to show what a model citizen you are, or are driving a Volvo and behaving normally, you need cut it out. The officer knows
how fast you were really going because he saw you three miles back. If I were a cop, and the law allowed it, I would bust you for insulting my intelligence. Just pull out of his lane, let him pass, then resume speeding.Police Cars: Situation Two.
If you roll up on a police car it is OK to pass -- if you use proper protocol: Slow to match his speed, then gradually accelerate away. You have acknowledged his presence and authority and are very conscientiously not impeding traffic behind you. If, however, you zip right past because you did not see him, or simply don't care, he must, and will stop you.The moment a car blows past a police cruiser, that officer is in the spotlight. Every other driver on the road immediately glances at him to watch what he does. To prevent your making a chump of him, and to save face with the other drivers -- and satisfy their desire to see you get nailed (which further reinforces his authority), the officer must, and will, pull you over. It is now up to you to be on your best behavior, perhaps feign ignorance and, if you play it right, get off with
a warning.Cell Phone Zombies
What can I write about these people that you do not already know?Passive Aggressive Drivers
My favorites. Because they impede the flow of traffic, these folks are:The source of all road rage.It is a safe assumption that every reader of this article, cruising along at a cheerful 70 mph pace, has come upon that one driver who insists on maintaining 55 mph in the passing lane.Fully aware of the empty pavement ahead of him, the traffic jam
behind him, and the other motorists zipping past him on the right, Mr. Passive Aggressive refuses to vacate the left lane because he rationalizes he is obeying the letter of the law, even though it is at the expense of common sense, safety and courtesy. What he is really doing is being a selfish jerk, for whom Rodney King protocols should apply, if he ever commits a traffic infraction.Eric Silver is the Publisher of OutsidersDC, a newly created web-based magazine with a focus on people and organizations that "get the job done" without regard for political or social affiliation, and written from the perspective of persons new to the Washington area, not part of any political circles, and whose thinking is outside common norms.es@OutsidersDC.com

Lara Croft's Ride

Author : Shannon Brown
The jeep was originally a military vehicle built for the United States Army during World War II, and later produced in a line of civilian models. Although not Jeep-brand vehicles, the term is sometimes used to refer generically to farm or family vehicles such as the Land Rover, International Harvester Scout, Isuzu Trooper, Ford Bronco, and Chevrolet Blazer. This category of vehicles was the root of the SUV era in the 1980sA road that is only suitable for off-road vehicles is often called a jeep trail. The most famous is perhaps Black Bear Road, made famous in the song of the same name by C.W. McCall.History. The first prototype was built for the Department of the Army by American Bantam, followed by two other prototypes produced by Ford and Willys-Overland. Quantities of each of the three models were then extensively field-tested with the Willys prototype being chosen for its greater durability and engine power. The model MB military Jeep was first built in quantity by Willys-Overland Motor Company in Toledo, Ohio. Due to their inability to produce the vast number of vehicles required, the U.S. government also allowed jeeps to be built by Ford Motor Company and designated GPW. Combined production by Willys and Ford during World War II was more than 600,000.The Jeep was widely copied in countries other than the United States, one version being made in France by Hotchkiss and in the Netherlands by Nekaf. There were several different versions created such as a railway Jeep and an amphibious Jeep. As part of the war effort, Jeeps were supplied to the Soviet Red Army during World War II.In US military use, the Jeep has largely been supplanted by the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle ("Humvee").A division of DaimlerChrysler, the most recent successor company to Willys, holds trademark status on the word "Jeep" and the distinctive 7-bar front grille design. It is said that the number of people worldwide who can recognize the distinctive Jeep grille is second only to the number who can recognize Mickey Mouse and that the Jeep brand is the most famous brand known worldwide other than Coke. The mark has gone through many owners, starting in 1941 with Willys, which produced the first Civilian Jeep (CJ). Willys was sold to Kaiser in 1953, which became Kaiser-Jeep in 1963.American Motors bought the company in 1970. The Chrysler Corporation bought out AMC in 1987, shortly after the Jeep CJ was replaced with the AMC-designed Jeep Wrangler. Finally, Chrysler merged with Daimler-Benz in 1998 to form DaimlerChrysler.Jeep vehicles are also produced in Beijing, China, by Beijing Jeep Corporation, Ltd., a joint venture between Beijing Automobile Industry Corporation, DaimlerChrysler and DaimlerChrysler China Invest Corporation, established on January 15, 1984.Jeep vehicles have "model designations" in addition to their common names. Nearly every civilian Jeep has a 'xJ' designation, though not all are as well-known as the classic CJ.See? So your usual jeep has a story to it.Shannon Brown is the editor of JeepnUsa.com. Performance wise, the 2005 Acura TL starts off with a 270-horsepower, 3.2 liter, 24-valve V6 engine. You can get your choice of a five-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual.
Standard with the 2005 Acura TL are 17-inch wheels that are equipped with antilock four-wheel disc brakes as well as a system for anti-skid. These standard features add to the great handling that is associated with this version of the Acura TL. It steers well and maneuvers easily in traffic. Most say it has a strong feel in traffic and that the wheels, at 17 inches, only add to that feel.
Standard on the interior of the Acura TL is leather upholstery. It is a comfortable and attractive leather that looks nice with the aluminum trim on the interior as well. The gauges are electroluminescent with blue backlighting that makes them both stylish and easy to read at night. In addition, heated seats in the front, XM satellite radio, voice-recognition navigation, and heated power door mirrors are just a few of the many standard luxury features available on this sports sedan. Then there is the cruise control, air conditioning, and individual front seat climate control, which are also all standard.
Comfort wise, the Acura TL fits the bill as well. There is a lot of leg room in the front seat. The car is made for style and front seat comfort, but you may find the back seat a little bit cramped at times. There is also limited space for storage. It is, however, a fantastic car for taking a date out on the town or showing up at a party in. It manages traffic and weather with equal ease and grace, so it if a fine work car as well.
You have seen the Acura TL sitting on the lot and wondered what all the hype was about. You wondered if the 2005 model was an improvement and if the car was a model you would enjoy for your lifestyle. It certainly isn't for everyone, but if you like a sports sedan with luxury and style to make a statement on your behalf, then you might want to consider taking a look at the 2005 Acura TL. It is practical for handling traffic and bad weather as well as looking stylish for your night out on the town. Either way, you owe yourself a look, go on, you know you want to.If you would like to view more of my articles on acura automobiles, please feel free to visit my acura secrets website!

Choosing The Right Style Of Alloy Wheels For Your Car

Author : J Freeman
There are two main reasons that anybody would want to buy a set of alloy wheels for their car. First of all, they are lighter than the ordinary steel wheels that are found on most vehicles, meaning that the unsprung weight (Unsprung weight is a term used to describe that part of a vehicle's mass that is directly connected to the wheels, and not isolated through the suspension.) of the car is reduced, increasing performance and handling. However, by far and away the main reason that most people decide to purchase a set of alloy wheels, is because they look good! When choosing a set of alloy wheels, to a certain extent, the decision is determined by the make and model of your vehicle, although in today's market, manufacturers of alloy wheels generally make all of their leading designs available in most rim sizes and stud patterns.Probably the hardest decision faced by anyone looking to buy a set of alloy wheels, is the choice of style. There are literally thousands of different designs available to suit all tastes. What follows is by no means a strict guide to the style that you should, or should not buy for your particular type of vehicle. All tastes are different and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. They are, however, popular suggestions as to what might be best for any particular type of vehicle, based on many years of professional experience in the alloy wheel retail market.Three spoke alloy wheels - These were very popular when they were first released. Owners of all types of vehicle flocked to purchase a set of these purely based on the novelty factor that they offered at the time. Today however, three spoke wheels have gone out of fashion and very few people choose this type of wheel.Five and six spoke alloy wheels - These are probably the most common style of alloy wheels currently available. They are very versatile and tend to suit almost any type of vehicle. Although it is generally accepted that you should choose wider spokes for the larger vehicles as the slim spoked wheels can look out of place, as the three spoke wheels might. For your standard family vehicle it would probably be best to stick to something smooth and simple, you don't want the car to be dominated by a set of outlandish alloys.Twin and multi-spoke alloy wheels - If you are purchasing a set of alloy wheels for a prestige or sports car, sometimes a simple, smooth five or six spoke wheel just doesn't do it justice and can look a little understated. In these situations it might be worth considering a more stylish twin or multi-spoke wheel that will better suit the overall look and feel of the vehicle.Other style factors - There are other style factors to consider. Some alloy wheels have an open centre with exposed bolts, these tend to also be multi-spoke wheels and have a very 'rally car' type feel to them. Also you should bear in mind that when you buy wheels that have fewer and thinner spokes, your brake pads will be much more visible, this is fine if your brakes are relatively new and in good condition, in some instances being able to see a set of high quality, performance brakes can actually improve the appearance and appeal of a vehicle.Just remember, there are no rules as to what style of alloy wheel you should purchase for your car. These are just suggestions, you may find them helpful in making a decision on what style you want to go for, and I hope you do.About The Author: Topgear have depots all over the country and run an extensive online shop selling car tyres, alloy wheels, stainless steel exhausts, catalytic converters and more. Carburetors

Author : Eric Morris
The carburetor is the part of an automobile engine that converts liquid fuel into vapor. This is mixed with a certain amount of air that allows combustion in the cylinders. All gasoline vehicles have carburetors, including boats and light aircraft. Carburetors are generally found in small engines and in older automobiles, especially those used in stock car racing. Most engines have only one carburetor though most modern engines that have bigger engines or more than 4 cylinders use multiple carburetors. The history of carburetors can be traced to the development of the wick carburetor by Donat Banki, a Hungarian engineer in 1893. Frederick and his brother built the first petrol driven car in 1896. Then in 1900, they built a 2-cylinder engine using the new wick carburetor. This car was taken on a successful 1000-mile tour, marking an important landmark in the use of the carburetor in automobiles. There are two kinds of carburetors, downdraft carburetors, wherein the flow of air is downwards; and side-draft, wherein the flow of air is sideways. Most automobiles in the U.S. use downdraft carburetors while side draft carburetors are found more in Europe. Carburetors are also classified as fixed choke and constant depression or variable choke. The variable choke carburetors are generally used in the UK because they are simple in adjustment and maintenance. Carburetor's efficiency depends on its capacity to provide the right mixture of fuel and air under each circumstance of engine operation. The different engine conditions are cold start, idling or slow running, acceleration, high speed/high power at full throttle and cruising at part throttle (light load). The main parts in a carburetor are an open pipe, which is the carburetor's "barrel" or "throat" through which the air reaches the engine. The butterfly valve or the "throttle", a rotating disc in this pipe, controls the air flow through the carburetor throat, which influences the power and speed of the engine. This throttle is connected to the accelerator of the vehicle. The major manufacturers of carburetors are Amal Ltd., Autolite, Carter, Holley, Pierburg, Rochester, Solex, Stromberg, SU, Walbro and Tillotson (small engines), Briggs and Stratton, Villiers, Weber, and Zenith.Carburetors provides detailed information about carburetors, carburetor parts, carburetor tuning, and more. How Tires are Manufactured?

Author : Paul Cris
The first stage of tire making is collecting raw materials and formulating rubber compounds. The raw materials used are rubber, oils, pigments, antioxidants, carbon black or silica, accelerators and other additives. These are then mixed together in a huge blender, which is called Banburys. After the mixing process is completed a gum like material forms. This material is then cut into strips. These strips will make the sidewalls and other portions of the tire. The main body of the tire is manufactured using fabricated rubber.Polyester, nylon and rayon are the fabrics used. The fabrics are changed depending on the type of the tire. But mostly Polyester is used. Another ring like component is used to make a tire. This is called tire bead. Steel wires of high tensile are used to make this tire bead.Radial tires are made in a cylindrical tire-building machine. The machine almost gives the final shape of the tire. After the making of the tire, it passes through an assembling process. Tires are assembled from the inside out. The inner line of the tire is made of two layers of synthetic rubber. Then another double layer of poly fabric is pasted. Then follows two strips of apexes to harden the area. Then 2 chafer strips are then pasted. Then automatic rollers press all the parts. It helps the parts to bind. After an inspection the tire goes for curing process. In the curing process the tire is heated up to the temperature of 300ºF for 12-25 minutes. It gives the tire a proper shape. Then it passes through another inspection, which includes an X-ray session. If there is any fault, the X-ray session reveals it. After the inspection the tire is ready to roll.Paul has been providing answers to lots of queries through his website on a wide variety of subjects ranging from satellite phones to acne. Pontiac G6 Introduces New Body Styles for 2006

Author : Joe Thompson
Produced by General Motors, Pontiac is a marque of automobiles that has been sold in the United States, Canada, and Mexico since the year 1926 making it around eighty years – one of the longest brands to stay in the market. Looking at the General Motors line up, the Pontiac is a mid-level brand that features a more sporting, and performance-driving experience for a reasonable price. It also adds up a youthful feel to its advertising. In its history, it was introduced by GM as a lower-priced version of their Oakland Motor Car line.In terms of its logo, the Pontiac logo was originally meant to represent an Indian, the Native American, arrow-head. One of the earliest slangs for this brand was to call it an Indian, which at present is still used by a couple hot rodders and enthusiasts. And one of the remarkable vehicles that bear this logo is the 2006 Pontiac G6 – a 2 or 4-door sports car, family sedan or sports sedan that can take up to five passengers. Made available in seven trims, this vehicle ranges from the 1 SV to the GTP sedan. It has a gas mileage of 23 mpg if you are looking at city driving, or 34 mpg if it means driving on the highway. It has a 4-speed automatic transmission.Introduced in 2005, the Pontiac G6 was made to be seen as an all-new vehicle. And for sure, additional improvements have been done in to live up to its name. Two additional body styles joining the original sedan is the biggest change done to the Pontiac G6 for this year. Late last year, a two-door coupe made its way to the market, and this year 2006, a two-door convertible will be rolling off the highways. The Pontiac G6's convertible top is a two-piece clamshell design that drops cleanly into the trunk when lowered. Also added in is a new performance-oriented GTP trim level that includes a 240-horsepower V6, an available six-speed manual transmission, 18-inch wheels, and standard stability control. Also included in the list of changes done to this model are a standard power driver's seat, a new front-passenger detection system for airbag deployment, and a new three-spoke steering wheel design.Auto Parts Discount gives each and every client excellent customer service and the finest quality Pontiac parts that only a Pontiac deserves. For the 2006 Pontiac G6, advantages include three different body styles to choose from, a roomy interior, interesting features like the sedan's panoramic sunroof, and comfortable front seats. However, on the other hand, objections to this model includes the electric steering offers little feel for the road, lack of attention to details, unrefined suspension, and a nose-heavy handling. Standard features for the Pontiac G6 comprises of a trunk anti-trap device, front power vented disc and rear power 270-mm solid disc brakes, an AM/FM radio with seek/scan and 6 speakers, and a CD player. Options are side head curtain airbags and front side airbags, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, and an AM/FM radio with in-dash 6-disc CD changer.floor mats---------------------Joe Thompson is the owner of a successful auto body shop in Ferndale, California. Mazda Protege Replaces the GLC

Author : Margaret Adams
The Mazda Motor Corporation is a Japanese automobile maker that is based in Hiroshima, Japan. As of last year, 2005, the company has been able to produce around roughly 800,000 automobiles per year with its sales evenly divided between Japan, Europe, and North America. The company has had it humble beginnings as the Toyo Cork Kogyo Company, Ltd., founded in Japan in the year 1920. That company has moved from manufacturing machine tools to vehicles happening around the introduction of the Mazda-Go in the year 1931. A part of the colorful history of the company, a fact is that they had also produced weapons for the Japanese military through the Second World War. The name Mazda was adopted by the company in 1984 although each and every automobile that the company has manufactured and sold had already bore that name starting at the beginning. The company entered the U.S. scene in the year 1970 with a single car which was the RX-2. However, the following year, they came up with five cars which included the compact Familia-based 1200 and R100, the larger Capella-baed 616 and RX-2 and the large 1800. The following years, Mazda has come up with new automobiles to compete in the market. With the help of their Wankel engines, the company quickly rose in prominence. However, come the energy crisis, Mazda's sales slipped down due to the Wankel's reputation was a gas hog. So to adapt itself to this new situation, Mazda responded with the reintroduction of a Familia-based car powerd by a tiny piston engine – this saved the company in the United States. At present, modern Mazda cars have become bigger, more advanced, and much more expensive than before. The company had started with GLC or Great Little Car but it was not as good and as great in comparison with the models at present. In the year 1985, the GLC was replaced by the 323 and was later on changed to a four-door Mazda Protégé in 1990 and became a two-door vehicle in 1995. This vehicle may not be so friendly to the pocket, however, with its comfortable interior, smooth driving, and handling, along with its excellent performance, it had certainly become one of the most sold Mazda models. Changes for the Mazda Protégé had been done every year to adapt to the world's varying lifestyles and cultures. The Mazda Protégé is made available in three trims which are the ES, LX, and DX. The ES comes with a 1.8 liter, 4-cylinder engine capable of a maximum of 122 horsepower. It has larger front disc brakes and quality standard equipments to go along with it. The LX and the DX, meanwhile, are powered by a 1.6 liter, 4-cylinder engine with an available output of 105 horsepower. What is standard for all three trims is a five-speed manual transmission. Optional for the Mazda Protégé trims is a four-speed automatic.Margaret Adams is the present manager of the largest auto manufacturing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Upholding Volvo Standards

Author : Kenneth McKinley
A full-size station wagon, the Volvo V70 of the Volvo Car Group is originally a development of the 850 station wagon and sedan series. A trivia for this car company is that it has a naming strategy that completely depends on the vehicles' size and body style. The car manufacturer, Volvo, in the station wagon segment adopted V (which means Versatility), S (which stands for Sedan), and C (which refers to the new Coupe and Convertible). The Volvo V70 upholds the Volvo body style which means artless riffs on the right angle, bearing utility and beauty all in one vehicle. This vehicle has a styling that is restrained and elegant yet at the same time crisp and uplifting. It has been made available with different packages. One of these is the sport leather package that offers fine-grained hides on the steering wheel and gear-selector boot. The security package, meanwhile, features all-important mass movement and level sensors, security laminated windows, and an air-quality system. Also, the cold weather package did not fail to offer traction and stability control, heated seats, and head lamp washers and wipers. As an addition, options also included a Dolby Pro Logic in-dash four-CD audio system along with nine speakers. This audio system also comes with an astounding clarity and stereo imaging. In its interior, the Volvo V70 holds 60/40 split rear seats that are easy to use, and also provides an impressive 71.5 cubic feet of cargo volume. The rear seats also sport two seatback-angle settings that are in a fully upright position for increased cargo space. As per safety, which is one of Volvo's main values that should not be excluded in the manufacture of their vehicles, the Volvo V70 has dual stage airbags, whiplash protection seats and ISOFIX attachment points for rear child safety seats. The ISOFIX hooks guarantee that the child buckets do not move up the side windows in case of accidents.Overall, the Volvo V70 exudes an aura of civility, responsibility and parental role modeling. It also provides the driver a feel of traveling faster. Also, this vehicle had options laid out in reference to its engines. There is the 2.4 liter engine; the 2.4 T engine that could produce 197 horsepower, and the 2.4 T engine XC with an all wheel drive. The five-cylinder engine is able to provide a smooth performance along with a nice power from its torque production.Volvo definitely considered comfort in the construction of the Volvo V70. The seats have been specially designed so as to provide a maximum level of support and comfort. Climate control is found on most of the models in the line up, along with high technology audio equipment with Dolby pro logic and subwoofers made available. An Introduction To Collecting Car Brochures - Part 3 - What To Look For When Buying

Author : Annette Brown
If you have read the previous articles in this series you should now have a clear idea of what brochures you are trying to obtain for your collection. Now for the fun bit! Starting, maintaining and increasing your collection. As you are collecting second-hand items, the condition of an item you are after can vary dramatically. Also, it does not help that sellers regularly either omit or misdescribe items. Therefore, it is paramount that you ask the right questions and look for what the seller hasn't said as much as what he has in his advert description.Having been disappointed on more than a few occasions when a "pristine" item has arrived through my letterbox, I have a checklist that I consult before committing to buying. The list is as follows:1) What is the size of the item in centimetres? Pictures can be deceptive and what looks like a 21cm x 29cm item, may be much smaller in size.2) How many pages long is it? Beware that on smaller brochures, there can be confusion between seller and buyer with what represents a page. My firm only uses the term "pages" for items that are 6 pages long or more. Otherwise, we use the term number of "sides". As a reputable seller, this avoids any confusion and disappointment.3) What is the reference number of the brochure? Most manufacturers have a code system for their brochures that you will become familiar with very quickly. By keeping a note of the references, you will avoid duplicates in your collection.4) What is the condition of the brochure? Amazingly, very few sellers have a condition scale attached to the advert (we do). One person's "pristine" may be fit only for the bin in other collectors eyes! I therefore ignore vague words like the above and ask direct questions – Has it any creases or tears and if so how many and how bad? Any fading? Any foxing (A term used to describe stains, specks, spots and blotches in paper)? Any water or damp damage?5) How will the item be delivered to you? On auction sites especially, it is natural to go for the cheapest posting method. However, if the item is being sent for the cost of the stamp, can you really expect anything more than for it to be delivered in a flimsy envelope? Probably not. The only way that a collectable paper item should be sent is in a card-backed envelope preferably marked "do not bend" with the item wrapped in plastic to prevent water damage and a return address inside, just in case the postal system loses it. I also insist on a proof of posting, again just in case the item goes missing. For any item over a preset limit, in my case £30/$60, I offer to pay extra for recorded delivery. Better safe than sorry. If you get a satisfactory answer to the questions above, you will be as certain as you can be that you will get the item and that it will be of a standard reflecting the price you have paid. The list sounds a bit daunting, but essentially it boils down to ensuring you know what you are getting and making sure it arrives in the same condition with which it left the seller. Many is the time that I have received a sodden envelope that contains a perfectly preserved item because I have insisted on it being wrapped in plastic. If the seller says, he does not normally do this, offer to pay extra for the service or if practical, collect the item. If your seller cannot or will not take this care, may I suggest that you walk away and wait for another to turn up.Please remember that for older brochures especially, a bit of fading and foxing and the odd crease or small tear is perfectly acceptable. In fact, I prefer an item with a patina to an "as new" item as it seems to have more character. Finally, unless it is extremely rare, I would avoid buying any incomplete, falling apart or badly damaged brochures. On the whole, they have little or no value and it is best to wait for a better one to be offered for sale.Next week, I will be discussing the correct way to store your collection.I own an internet firm specialising in sourcing and selling all kinds of paper automobilia.Whether you want a car or auto brochure, rare workshop manual or simply to chat on our forum about collecting and classic cars a warm welcome is guaranteed.I supply items worldwide, a large number of which can be downloaded 24 hours a day.

Secrets of Vinyl Dressing and Tire Cleaners in Mobile Detailing

Author : Lance Winslow
If you own a mobile detailing business you know you have to watch your crews like a hawk to make sure they do not waste the costly auto detailing products. But what are some secret strategies to use when training your crews and how long can you make these products last?Well let's take "All Guard Tire & Vinyl dressing" how long will it last? Depending on how you use it, it could last up to 40 car tires for one gallon. This figuring one-pint does ten cars or forty tires regular not 4 X 4 or SUV tires. Also realize and figure you can cut it by two-thirds for use on dashboards, but never cut such product more than 50% for tires. Additionally be careful with waster, as you want to cut a sponge like a quarter moon, so you can do the tires by putting the product on the sponge not just squirt it on the tire directly. You will waste product if you just squirt it on the tires that way. Much of the product will also end up on the rims and thus need to be wiped off, yet making the rims sticky so they will get dirty quicker upsetting clientele. It is possible that you could make it go as far as 80 cars if you are careful, but it takes practice to get that good with it. Consider this in 2006.Lance Winslow - Online Think Tank forum board.
