Security Release: Important Tips For Your Vehicle

Author : Pete Lance
You car is probably one of the most expensive items you have ever purchased. Therefore you must protect it well to help you keep your car and belongings from being stolen or vandalized. Here are some important tips for the security of your vehicle:Tip 1: Park in a Well Lit AreaPlaces which are well lit and have a lot of traffic are the best place to park your car. No sensible thief will steal a vehicle where there are a lot of people around.Tip 2: Don't Attract AttentionAttracting attention tells people that you have something valuable in your car. Don't attract attention by placing high valued items in full view. Hide them away or risk losing the whole vehicle!Tip 3: Take your Belongings with YouTake everything out of your car. Anything that can call attention probably will, and thieves love to hotwire cars that have expensive things inside. Don't leave in plain view any money, electronic items or expensive items.Tip 4: Thieves Love Audio Equipment as Much as You doA good snatch-and-grab man can get a stereo out of a car in seconds, often before passers-by even notice. So to make sure that your equipment is safe, you should make it difficult for the thief. Some companies make accessory frames that bolt your head unit securely to the car's body.Tip 5: Get an Alarm SystemAlthough an alarm system will not get the police rushing to your vehicle or get passer-bys restraining the thief, it will however lessen the time a thief can work your vehicle. Furthermore, many theirs will not even attempt your vehicle if they see that you have a security system installed.Tip 6: If You can Help it, Don't CustomizeTinted windows, custom wheels, fog lights, all these accessories attract thieves. You car will of course look like a powerful vehicle, but that means more thieves would want your car as well. If you really want to add performance accessories to your vehicle, don't tell the whole world about it. Install them where no one can see them. Have your car look like something fresh out of the factory.Tip 7: Lock at All TimesLast but not least, no matter how long (or how short) you are going to be away from your vehicle, lock your vehicle. Make sure there is no way for anybody to get in, be it passenger doors, the boot or even the sun-roof. That short 2 minutes you don't lock your vehicle can be costly.Pete Lance is the founder of http://www.USGasTracker.org, a premier company which helps the consumer save money on gasoline. Cold Air Intake: An Awesome Performance Enhancer!

Author : Matthew Keegan
If you are desiring to increase the power of your car without adding expensive after market parts, a cold air intake system is something you may want to consider. This system is designed to lower the temperature of the air entering your vehicle to maximize the power of your engine; the result is that your car performs better and produces a cool intake noise. In addition, a cold air intake system will enhance the appearance of your vehicle's engine bay. Installing a cold air intake system is not a difficult procedure -- you can do it yourself. Let's examine the steps you need to take to properly outfit your car with a cold air intake. There are many companies offering cold air intake systems for your car, however you will need to find the right match for your particular make/model -- a reputable auto parts supplier can help you in this area. Brands like AEM Cold Air Intake, Volant Air Intake, and K&N Intake are some of the most popular systems for the do-it-yourself crowd and are worth your consideration when you are shopping for a system. How difficult is it to install a cold air intake system on your vehicle? Not very. For the experienced car enthusiast it is a fairly simple procedure involving eight steps as outlined by Valvoline on an Acura that was refitted:1. We begin by removing the factory air intake tube from the throttle body on the engine and the air box on the fender well. Two clamps are the only items that secure the rubber hose.2. The stock air box lifts out easily once you've removed the screws that attach it to the fender well.3. We raised the car on a lift to access the lower air intake and muffler (yes, muffler) Acura installed to keep air intake sound to a minimum. The tube attaches to the muffler and the muffler is held in place with a few screws.4. Here is the first piece of the new Cold Air Intake system. This tube will have the air filter attached to it in the fender and this is where the cold air will come from. You'll need to feed the tube up into the engine compartment where it is held in place with a large nut.5. With the lower pipe in place we installed the new high-flow air filter next. It'll reside up in the fender where it will be somewhat protected from the elements. However, if you live in a particularly wet environment prone to significant rain, you should consider relocating it directly in the engine compartment as a large amount of ingested water can damage the engine.6. The second pipe is installed next. A urethane connector allows you to attach the pipe to the throttle body where it's held in place with two clamps, one for the throttle body and one for the pipe.7. Here is the urethane sleeve connector for the upper and lower pipes. Before securing the lower pipe with the flange and nut we made sure our connection to the upper pipe was secure.8. Here is the flashy finished product. You'll immediately notice the air intake sound since it's a noticeable growl over stock. Most power will be achieved at higher rpm where additional air is needed most.Of course, if you are not comfortable with installing the system by yourself, bring over a buddy who can talk you through the job. In the end you'll have a car that performs and looks simply awesome!Matt is a contributing writer for the Car Part Stuff and other leading sites.

Auto donations have become an effective way for many charity and non-profit organizations to draw financial assistance from their communities in helping the less fortunate. Although auto donations are designed to benefit those that are having special hardships in life, an auto donor usually receives some benefits as well. Since the auto donation idea has caught on because of its success, there are many organizations throughout the Internet that request your help through auto donations. You can meet someone else's need simply by donating your used car to your favorite charity. You should be able to find some non-profit cause that you are inclined to support as you browse through many auto donation web sites. Some organizations sponsor auto donations as their only source of fund raising and others sponsor auto donation options along with other charity fund raisers. Any non-profit organization that sponsors auto donations is regulated by law and adheres to IRS requirements which protect the donor from scams or poorly managed organizations. An auto donation has become a very productive way for charities to help the targeted cause they represent.Auto donations are sponsored through charities that raise money or provide vehicles for needy recipients within a targeted group. Your auto donation can help the blind, disadvantaged children, the disabled, cancer victims, those who face financial hardship and other groups within communities who desperately need assistance in some way. Since auto donations are donated, any donor will receive a tax write off not to exceed $500 at the time of donation. If the car is sold for a higher value, charitable organizations can provide you with a written statement for the amount and you may apply the credit toward your income tax.If you wish to donate a car, truck, RV, boat, plane or any other vehicle, online forms are available through many auto donation sources. You may submit the form and receive an early reply with most vehicles gladly excepted. You can usually expect a tow service provided by the auto donation charity to pick up your car within 2 to 5 days. If possible, have the car title ready and any other paper work required. Auto donations are easy and quick to accomplish through most online charity groups. You may choose between a vast array of causes that you wish to support. Automotive Paint and Aircraft Repair

Author : Keith Hiebert
After years of painting aircraft with automotive paints I have found that the best lasting paint in my opinion is PPG base coat clear coat.Working with aircraft mechanics on the methods of painting planes, the old generation stressed the use of synthetic paints (pre 1970's era).My first aircraft pain job consisted of using the recommended synthetic paint. I found that later when the aircraft owner involved wanted the color changed on a stripe that it created some recoat nightmares, trying to keep the base color from bubbling up.My next choice of paints was urethanes which looked nice, on sea planes however it held in the corrosion, crating repairs the very next year. When I switched to PPG two part epoxy the paint went on nice and hid corrosion less, making easier recoating with no lifting appearing like the best choice. My fourth trial of paints was PPG base coat clear coat which created a very deep gloss and wet look. This last choice was my favorite and I found that the clear helped hold in the color and the shine for many years compared to the two part epoxy. With all the given benefits the clear coat came away the winner with years of shine.Keith Hiebert was in the automotive and aircraft painting for over twenth years. A pilot, painter, his own plane paint jobs were his best advertizements. Learn more about him at http://www.whoiskeithhiebert.com

Is There Kentucky Fried Fuel in Your Future?

Author : Diane Nassy
Thanks to a weird marriage between the National Renderers Association, the people who turn animal fat into useful products, and the Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards , there is a possibility that your car could be burning chicken or other animal fat in the next few years. That's because these two agencies have been working together to advance the development of petroleum-based fuel alternatives known as "biofuels". According to a jointly issued report, yellow grease, lard, recycled cooking fat, and other animal-derived products have been shown in tests to perform as an acceptable alternative to fossil fuels. So far the fatty fuels have been tested in boilers, trucks, busses, and some automobiles. The results have been pretty impressive. In fact, the EPA has issued guidelines for companies who want to convert to biofuel to run their factories, power generating plants, and diesel engines. The guidelines spell out what fuels can be replaced by biofuels and what incentives the government is offering to those who take the leap. You can read the guidelines here at the EPA site (http://www.epa.gov/ttn/oarpg/t3ed.html).None of this alternative fuel talk has escaped the attention of the automobile manufacturers, big oil companies, or environmental groups. Everyone is looking at the possibilities in order to find a way to make some money when all is said and done. Some people are doing more than looking, however. One school district in Georgia is running their school busses on chicken fat, and some trucking companies are converting their diesel engine to burn vegetable oil. It all seems to be working out quite well. Of course, there will probably be a vegetable shortage next, and we'll see Crisco hitting $5.00 per tub!Although it's not likely that your next off-the-lot car will have "finger licking good" exhaust fumes, there is a great need to develop fossil fuel alternatives. Researchers aren't just working with animal renderings and vegetable oil either. Experimental research is being conducted with hay and agricultural wastes as well. Even chicken "droppings" are getting burned. Some companies are developing conversion kits that will let ordinary gasoline engines run on animal fat or vegetable oil. The average cost for a conversion kit runs around $1,000, but the savings can add up pretty quickly when you consider that many restaurants are giving away their used fry grease for free. The main problem is finding ways to produce good mileage results and developing engines that are able to handle the effects of non-petroleum fuels. These aren't overwhelming problems, but they still must be addressed before biofuels become mainstream. And for the conspiracy theory fans among us, there is always the possibility that "big oil" will do everything it can to stop biofuels from replacing their coveted black gold. While having to scrounge around for buckets of fat, or scraping road kill from the Interstate might slow down your travel plans, there will come a time when biofuels will be flowing from your neighborhood service stations as freely as grease from a fried chicken platter.Diane Nassy is the founder of http://www.save-on-gas-prices.com . Where to Find a Complete List of Used Cars?

Author : Natasha Woods
I recently was at a site online and it had a used car section. I thought it might be a good source to try and find some used cars, since I'm in the market. Perusing through the used car section, I noticed they online had 2 pages of used cars! 2…pages…!When you're searching for a used car, you want to be able to find a complete list of used cars from every corner of whatever country you live in. I'm in the US, so naturally (or un-naturally) I want to see used cars from Dells, Wisconsin to Los Angeles, California. Unfortunately, not everyone that has a website online can put together such a monstrous list of information. Then, I found www.123Usedcars.com.

Now, this is the kind of site that if you're looking a used car from around the US, you're likely to acquire it from here. They pull their listings of used cars from several different sites, making a grand central station of used cars for me to salivate upon; a feast for my eyes, if you will. Some other great features about this site are the ability to show pictures, road tests, and articles on several models. This is the kind of raw information we need to make educated decisions on automotive purchases. The articles/road tests are well written, un-biased lines of text outlining what makes this vehicle good, bad or ugly. Now, to switch gears just a taste, if you're feeling like a used car just isn't the quality auto you want to be seen by your wife/kids/neighbors/girlfriend (or insert anything else here) then www.123UsedCars.com has links to sites that will take your willingness to explore a new car and send your free quote to a qualified dealership around your area. I have 3 words…A-Maz-Ing.Stop by 123UsedCars.com and check it out for yourself. I'm just writing about my own experiences. You might be different, but if you find everything you're looking for and more at that site, please blame me. I don't mind being blamed. My name is Natasha Woods. I just found this Used Cars site and thought I would write about it. I've written several different articles about whatever I feel. Hope that helps you understand who I am...but I mostly write about cars. :)
